### Job summary

The Service Manager will provide operational, performance and business management support to Respiratory Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, working closely with the Operations Manager and General Manager to deliver service, quality, workforce and financial objectives.

The post holder will oversee key national and local performance standards, ensuring timely patient care, effective risk management and achievement of operational targets. A major aspect of the role involves analysing, validating and reporting complex operational data. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential to interpret large datasets, support waiting list management, performance monitoring, capacity planning, service improvement and decision-making.

The Service Manager will produce reports, identify trends, develop recovery plans and provide actionable insights to improve service delivery. They will also line manage designated administrative, reception and team leader staff, supporting recruitment, training, performance and absence management in line with Trust policies.

Working with minimal supervision, the post holder will coordinate projects, audits and service improvements, monitor agreed actions, ensure accurate reporting and support the delivery of departmental and NHS objectives.

### Main duties of the job

Lead the operational management of Respiratory Medicine services, ensuring delivery of national and local performance standards and service objectives.

Manage patient pathways, waiting lists and access targets, including RTT, cancer and diagnostic standards.

Analyse, validate and report complex operational data using advanced Excel and reporting systems to support decision-making, performance monitoring and service improvement.

Produce performance reports, identify trends, risks and opportunities, and develop recovery plans to achieve targets.

Provide accurate information to clinical and operational teams and maintain high standards of data quality and governance.

Lead audits, service reviews and improvement projects to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency.

Line manage administrative, reception and team leader staff, including recruitment, appraisal, training, attendance and performance management.

Support service planning, capacity and workforce management, monitor clinical capacity and waiting lists, manage resources and authorised budgets, investigate complaints and incidents, ensure compliance with Trust policies and governance requirements, and deputise for the Operations Manager as required
