### Job summary

Senior Therapeutic Radiographer -- (B6)

Over the past 12 months we have successfully recruited several external applicants and have had the pleasure of promoting a few of our Senior Radiographers to Team Leaders. As our recruitment drive continues, we are looking for another 2 Senior Therapeutic Radiographers to join the team.

You will be confident, highly motivated, forward thinking and have a passion for patient care. We have undergone significant change in the past 18 months successfully introducing programmes of work aimed at supporting our Radiographers, as a Senior Radiographer you can expect 1:1 additional support from our Team Leaders, Tech Leads, & SMT with programmes aimed at developing you to achieve your career aspirations.

You will be joining a team of circa 120 staff that deliver one of the highest percentages of IG-IMRT treatments in the U.K and treats a large number of SABR patients for all commissioned indications. Our breast patients are treated with SGRT, & DIBH is offered to all appropriate patients who have left sided breast cancer.We are one of two leading centres delivering radiotherapy for paediatrics in the Midlands that specialises in SGRT, intensity-modulated TBI& CSRT.

Due to the demand on the service, we are looking for full time Radiographers committed to working 37.5 hours over 5 days (Mon -- Fri). We cannot offer flexible working patterns at this point.

### Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced therapeutic radiographer used to working on a busy treatment unit supporting and working with a team of radiographers to provide safe and accurate highly specialised radiotherapy treatment.

You will support your Team Leader in managing a clinical workload ensuring that all treatments and procedures are delivered safely and correctly, maintaining high standards of technical and patient care. There is a requirement to work at an advanced level promoting best practice, giving expert advice, support and guidance to junior staff and the multidisciplinary team.

We have a variety of specialised equipment including two Phillips CT scanners, CyberKnife, two Tomotherapy HD units, Radixact, HDR, and six Elekta linear accelerators all with AlignRT installed. You will have opportunity to be rotated throughout the various treatment rooms we have.

As a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer, you will need to have a flexible approach to working hours to accommodate service demands and an essential requirement to be able to cover extended day working Monday to Friday between 7.30am to 8pm. In addition, there is a requirement to work occasional bank holidays and some occasional weekends.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- *Experience of working clinically within the NHS as a radiographer on full range of radiotherapy equipment which will have led to the acquisition of sound and well established theoretical and practical knowledge and successful experience of working and learning in multi-professional teams
- *Experience in assessing and teaching trainee radiographers
- *Specialist knowledge of cancer pathology and disease patterns
- *Specialist knowledge of clinical radiotherapy including potential radiation risks, acute patient side effects and their effective management
- *An active awareness of relevant legislation, national cancer standards and professional guidelines

**Desirable**

- *Experience of undertaking clinical audits and surveys
- *Experience of working in the NHS

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- *BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Therapeutic Radiography and/or experience to post-graduate diploma level
- or equivalent
- *Current HCPC registration
- *Attendance of recent relevant post graduate courses and study days including assessment of undergraduates
- *Evidence of interest and commitment in working towards further professional development and qualification

**Desirable**

- *Working towards or willing to undertake study for a further professional qualification
