The Imaging Department at Newham University Hospital, Barts Health have an exciting career development opportunity to become a Band 6 Radiographer in our team. Our Barts Health values describe our approach to everything we do, working collaboratively and compassionately to deliver the best care.

This is a key role within the Imaging Department, the post holder will have a pivotal role in supporting the service to meet its activity and quality improvement priorities, diagnostic and cancer performance standards and strategic development of the service.

We are looking for a skilled radiographer who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team at BHOC providing a comprehensive imaging service across a range of Theatre orthopaedic imaging and clinical specialties.

Imaging services across Barts Health are transitioning to a new model of work, recruiting experience staff to drive the quality of care delivered by Radiography across at BHOC site. Our vision is to support staff to work to the top of their licence, nurturing skills through training and mentorship to realise a workforce that provides outstanding care for our patients now and in the future.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver safe, effective, and high-quality radiographic examinations.

Ensure excellent patient care and experience at all times.

Support junior staff, students, and newly qualified radiographers.

Contribute to quality improvement, radiation safety, and departmental audits.

Contribute to the delivery of a safe and efficient imaging service, including shift and weekend working as required (participate in the delivery of a 24/7, 365 service).

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

## Person Specification

### Skills

**Essential**

- Competent to perform IV injections and cannulation (or willing to undergo training).
- Skilled in keyboard and mouse operation of computerized technology Able to operate VDU equipment.
- Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt training and teaching styles in response to needs of the trainee.
- Team player with enthusiasm for radiography, with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
- IT skills, with advanced levels of understanding of Microsoft office
- PACS, RIS and CRS knowledge and experience.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Fulfilled a varied role as a radiographer in the Band 5 position.
- Evidence of some role extension or as an experienced Band 6 radiographer with specialized Imaging procedures.
- Evidence of CPD, including attendance at relevant short course & study days.

### Communication

**Essential**

- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective communication in a wide range of situations in writing, person or by telephone
- Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
- Awareness of new developments in radiography
- Ability to work within a team
- Good understanding of National regulations and MHRA safety guidelines.
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and Health and Safety

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalents
- Health and Care Professions Council Registration

**Desirable**

- Postgraduate study in a relevant area

### Specific requirements

**Essential**

- Required to work 0800-1600 hours weekdays and participate in evening, night & weekend shifts as appropriate
- Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations
