### Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation team based on Solihull Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to develop specialist skills within stroke and neurology across stroke ESD and neuro out patient rehabilitation.

The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team providing high-quality, patient-centred assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for patients with complex neurological conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, and other neurological presentations.

You will independently manage a varied caseload and contribute to service development, clinical education, and quality improvement initiatives.

You will take part in the weekend working rota as part of 7 day working.

### Main duties of the job

Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for patients with stroke and neurological conditions

Assess functional, cognitive, perceptual, sensory, and upper limb impairments

Develop patient-centred rehabilitation goals and treatment plans

Complete discharge planning, home assessments, and equipment recommendations

Work collaboratively within the MDT including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, nursing staff, consultants, and social services

Support junior staff, assistants, and students through supervision and teaching

Participate in service development, audits, and evidence-based practice initiatives

Contribute to weekend and 7-day service working where applicable

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- * Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality.
- * Demonstrate acute clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality. This will include acute hospital experience in respiratory, older peoples medicine, frail elderly, neurology,T&O and musculo-skeletal conditions.
- Significant experience
- * Experience of team/service development.
- * Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, students and assistants.
- * A specialist knowledge across a range of therapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of therapy.
- * Good understanding of working in an acute trust.
- * Understanding of current legislation and application to Occupational Therapy.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- * Diploma / degree in occupational therapy.
- * Current registration with Health Professions Council.
- * A levels or equivalent qualification
- * Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
- * Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.

**Desirable**

- * Evidence of leadership training.
- * Attendance at Clinical Educators Course.
