### Job overview

The Royal Free Hospital is a national specialist centre designated by NHS England (NHSE) for the diagnosis and management of patients with lysosomal storage disorders. These are a group of very rare inherited metabolic disorders causing specific enzyme deficiencies which result in widespread accumulation of various substrates in numerous organ systems and tissues.

The Unit has a need to maintain the existing clinical database and implement new disease specific databases for monitoring high cost therapies in particular. The disease specific databases contribute to collecting information on the natural history and pathophysiology of these disorders, treatment outcomes, quality of life and goals of therapy achievements. The database aids the routine management of the patients.

This post will also assist RFH commissioning team, clinicians and nurse specialist with data monitoring and reporting to NHSE.

### Main duties of the job

- Maintain existing LSDU clinical databases, with specific expertise and knowledge of Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, using relational databases (and implementing new databases); routine and timely reporting to external stakeholders such as NHSE, and generating ad hoc reports as required.
- Lead in the capture and statical analysis of clinical data in order to provide timely and accurate data to clinicians and NHSE clinical outcomes reporting.
- Liaise with RFH LSD commissioning team for timely LSD data reporting
- Liaise with RFH LSD pharmacy team for timely LSD data reporting
- Expert knowledge on using Trust systems for information management.
- Support the LSD clinical team with EPR/Cerner and clinical pathways development

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

- Acquired specialist expertise in designing clinical databases using access or SQL and management
- Fault fixing/troubleshooting skills

- 1 year Experience in database administration and management including back up procedures and user support
- Experience of working with clinical data and reporting to national organisations (e.g. UK Renal Registry, Diabetes UK, NHS England)
- Experience designing and maintaining databases (Microsoft Access, SQL is particularly useful)
- Track record of successfully working in a team
