### Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Children's Community Occupational Therapist to join our innovative team supporting children and young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. This permanent role offers fulltime hours of 37.5 per week.

If you enjoy using creativity and purposeful activity to help children develop independence in selfcare, education and play, this rewarding role may be ideal for you. You will deliver high quality Occupational Therapy in homes, schools, nurseries and clinics, working within pathways such as Early Years, Complex Disability and Physical Disability. The service also offers specialist areas including palliative care, neuromuscular conditions, hemiplegia and splinting, with support from a Clinical Professional Lead.

You will be encouraged to develop up to two specialist interests and contribute to team learning. Applicants must hold an Occupational Therapy qualification, HCPC registration, and be confident working within multidisciplinary and multiagency settings. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload with support are essential.

You will receive supervision, development opportunities and may supervise junior staff and students. Knowledge of community practice, children's equipment and assessment tools is desirable, with training available.

### Main duties of the job

- To work as a specialist clinician to utilise, develop and enhance Occupational Therapy clinical and professional skills within the Service to deliver high standards of practice.
- To apply the Occupational Therapy process within a Multi-Disciplinary format providing specialist assessment and treatment in clinical care pathways.
- To take a lead in developing the Service. This involves promoting high quality clinical practice and ensuring professional standards are maintained in the workplace.
- To deliver a specialist Occupational Therapy Service to patients within a variety of settings, requiring flexibility/adaptability in recognising the complexity of these environments to maximise their abilities and opportunities for occupational wellbeing.
