### Job overview

The BHFT Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy team are looking for 2 fulltime developing band 5/6s therapists to work in our service. We currently have vacancies at our Wokingham and East Berkshire sites, though occasionally you may need to work at other sites or attend meetings within the locality – both East and West Berkshire.

We are looking for either an NQP or a clinician with experience, motivation and a desire to be part of a growing and enthusiastic team.

As a Developing SLT you will be supported to make the transition from NQP to autonomous practitioner with guidance from senior staff. For newly qualified staff, you will work your way through our Preceptorship programme over the first year of employment which will help you make this transition and consolidate all the skills and knowledge gained throughout your training. You will be closely supported to sign off your NQP and dysphagia competencies. Following this we will support you to develop skills and complete necessary competencies to move into a band 6 role within the team.

It is a completely adult caseload and fully supported by experienced SLT’s. We offer opportunities to engage in monthly CPD through journal clubs and case study presentations. Clinicians are supported to LSVT training and develop skills in EMST. Following completion of Band 6 competencies, we work closely with our local acute sites to offer Videofluroscopy Level 1 training.

## Person Specification

### Previous Experience

**Essential**

- Experience in evaluating own practice
- Previous experience working with/interest in and commitment to working with adults with acquired neurological conditions
- Awareness of the challenges of community working

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in community and/or neurology settings
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
- Experience of working independently and within teams
- Experience with telehealth as a delivery of assessment/therapy

- Ability to travel to multiple sits – must be a car drive with access to own vehicle

- Established knowledge of a broad range of assessment and intervention tools relevant to clinical area

### Education/Qualifications/Training

**Essential**

- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered
- Member of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
- Member of relevant Special Interest Groups

### Continuous Professional Development

**Essential**

- Evidence of independent or post-graduate study through CPD portfolio

**Desirable**

- NQP competencies
