### Job summary

You will join our friendly and experienced Main Theatre team, working alongside leading consultants and skilled theatre colleagues. Our 10 theatres deliver complex surgery across Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Spinal Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Plastics, ENT, Ophthalmology and Cancer Services. You do not need experience in every specialty. If you have strong scrub experience in one area and would like to broaden your skills, our team will support your development.

### Main duties of the job

* Preparing surgical instruments, equipment and consumables * Scrubbing and assisting across a range of surgical specialties * Maintaining a safe and sterile theatre environment * Anticipating the needs of surgeons during procedures * Completing WHO safety checks and patient documentation * Working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, recovery practitioners and theatre colleagues * Supporting students, newly qualified colleagues and new starters * Contributing to improvements in patient care and theatre services

A little about the role As a Theatre Scrub Practitioner, you will help deliver safe and effective care throughout each patient's surgical journey. You will prepare instruments and equipment, assist during procedures and anticipate the needs of the surgical team. You will work across different specialties, giving you the opportunity to build a broad range of scrub skills. What you will be doing

Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with valid NMC or HCPC registration

Previous scrub experience within an acute hospital or theatre environment

Experience in at least one surgical specialty

Good knowledge of perioperative care and infection prevention

Strong communication and teamwork skills

A calm, organised and proactive approach

An interest in learning and developing across different specialties
