### Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has just become available for an enthusiastic & motivated nurse to join the liver research delivery Team. The team are responsible for delivering an exciting range of both academic and commercially sponsored clinical trials. The trials include observational, as well as complex interventional and translational studies in alcohol related liver disease, viral hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, liver transplantation, liver / neuroendocrine cancer, autoimmune liver disease, portal hypertension and metabolic liver disease. As a Band 5 Research Nurse you will need excellent communication skills to liaise with participants, clinical services, external sponsors & departments that are key to this role and to care for and support patients during their journey through a clinical research trial. You will ensure that patients experience the highest level of care, in line with the trust vision, values, policies and procedures whilst adhering to ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines. The post holder will involve identifying and screening participants, recruitment, coordinating study visits, conducting trial related assessments and monitoring patients in trials as well as the collection and documentation of accurate data.

### Main duties of the job

To be successful in this role you will need to be a level 1 Registered Nurse, with considerable experience in an acute care setting. Applicants need to demonstrate a willingness to train for extended roles which include venepuncture, cannulation and administration of cytotoxic medications. Previous research experience and a science interest are desirable. ## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- *Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting
- *Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/ competence
- *Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others
- *Willingness to become a Mentor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for mentorship
- *Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
- *Understanding of preceptorship and work-based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge
- *Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
- *Understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity
- *Awareness of health and safety issues

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- *Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC Register
- *Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- *Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing

- *Demonstrate achievement of numeracy (including drug administration calculations) and literacy skills. Ability to read / write and speak, receive and understand instructions in English
