### Job summary

Exciting opportunity to work on The Day Case Unit and Discharge lounge at Good Hope Hopsital. The day case unit is a 30 bedded elective surgical unit. Candidates will be admitting patients and caring fro them post operatively., specialities include Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedic, General surgery and Ophthalmology.

The Discharge Lounge is a busy unit faciliating the hospitals discharges, candiates will need knowledge and understanding of the discharge process.

### Main duties of the job

The candidate will require knowledge and understanding of pre and post operarive care, caring for patients undergoing different procedures.

To work proactively, identifying patients suitable for the discharge lounge, working closely with the the clinical site team and other members of the MDT to create and provide flow acorss the hospital site.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- *Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary health and care setting (can include undergraduate student placements within the last 12 months)
- *Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
- * Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct and the proficiencies and standards for registered nurses can apply this to undergraduate training or post graduate practice
- *Being an accountable professional
- *Promoting health and preventing ill health
- *Assessing needs and planning care
- *Providing and evaluating care
- *Leading and managing nursing care and working in teams -- including prioritisation and delegation skills
- *Coordinating care and responding to deteriorating health
- *Improving safety and quality of care
- *Awareness of current relevant clinical and professional issues and NHS policy
- *Understanding / experience of the principles of Safeguarding and Mental Capacity
- *Awareness of Health and Safety issues.

**Desirable**

- *Experience in working in an Acute NHS practice setting as an undergraduate student nurse or post graduate registered nurse.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- *Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level leading to Professional registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register i.e. ( Adult / Child / Learning Disability or Mental Health)
- *Evidence of undergraduate education for newly qualified nurses / or post graduate continuing professional development for registered nurses who have post registration experience
