### Job summary

An opportunity is available for an newly qualified Physiotherapist to join our innovative team at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, based in Harlow, Essex. We provide ongoing care to a broad range of patients, ranging from those who are critically unwell, to those who need minimal rehabilitation or assessment and advice. You will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, advice, treatment and evaluation of patients referred to the acute Inpatient Physiotherapy Service, including patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. In return, you will be supported in your efforts to build on your previous experience to further develop your clinical competencies and leadership skills. Rotation are 5 monthly and cover: Acute Medicine Care of the Elderly Surgery and Critical Care Orthopaedics (elective and trauma) ED and Frailty Community within EPUT Inpatient Rehab within EPUT Stroke Rehab within EPUT This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week.. Assistance could be provided for suitable return to practice candidates.

To contribute to a high standard of patient care using Physiotherapy skills to effectively assess, treat, and monitor patients on your caseload. To interact with colleagues from health and other agencies as appropriate in each area of work to gain broader understanding of their roles, and enhance patient care.

### Job responsibilities

Main duties of the job

- To work as an autonomous professional according to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy rules of Professional Conduct and Standards of Physiotherapy, and the Health Professions Council’s regulation
- To work as a Physiotherapist within the in-patient and outpatient team in a variety of clinical areas providing specialist physiotherapeutic assessment, treatment, discharge decisions and advice for a range of complex conditions
- To continue to develop clinical skills, knowledge and experience through practice in a range of clinical settings which may include Medical, Care of the Elderly, Surgical, Orthopaedic wards, musculoskeletal outpatients and the emergency dept.
- To maintain personal professional status by ensuring that the requirements laid down by relevant professional body for periodic registration to maintain personal professional licence are complied with. Exercise professional accountability as guided by the relevant professional body and maintained in accordance with the policies of the department and The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
- To participate on the Respiratory on call duties when rostered and weekend working in Orthopaedics and Stroke unit.
- To be proactive in in-service training sessions and specialist Personal Development as identified in Personal Development Plan.
- To maintain effective communication links with patients, carers and all other members of the MDT regarding patient’s condition, including the completion of accurate clinical records in line with the trust and professional body codes of practice.
- To supervise and assist in maintaining physiotherapy assistants competency. To actively participate in service improvement initiatives such as in planned research and audit.
- To be an advocate of patient safety and excellent patient experience while working in the trust.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Wide range of clinical placements and experience during training
- Portfolio documenting continuing professional development

### Qualifications

- Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
- Health & Care Professions Council registration as a Physiotherapist, or a UK-recognised accreditation

- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
