The post advertised is a rotational Band 5 Occupational Therapist. Rotations include Brain Injury Inpatients, Brain Injury out patients, Stroke rehabilitation, Sub Acute general medicine and Discharge to Assess short stay rehab.

### Main duties of the job

This rotational post offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience working in a rewarding environment with a wide variety of medical clinical conditions e.g. Frailty,Parkinson's, Amputees, Dementia, Falls and Fractures and also within specialist neuro placements; brain injury in / out patients, plus stroke rehab.

All areas focus on client-centered practice with a holistic approach, and you will gain skills and knowledge in both general and specialist OT intervention.

We fully support continued professional development with a wide variety of training options, including a monthly Inservice Training program, regular clinical supervision and opportunities to develop wider knowledge and skills through participation in Service Development projects.

Good communication skills are essential, and there will be opportunity to participate in an In-Service Training programme and to supervise junior staff within the service.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant experience of the Occupational Therapy process during Fieldwork Education and Work
- Documenting evidence of continuing professional development

**Desirable**

- Knowledge and experience in inpatient areas such as Discharge to Assess, Frailty, Stroke / Neuro

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- HCPC Registration
- Occupational Therapy Degree

**Desirable**

- Practice Educator

### Personal Qualities

**Essential**

- Innovative, creative
- Effective written , oral and digital communication skills

### Skills and knowledge

**Essential**

- Basic Knowledge of health legislation and current practice
- Demonstrate an understanding of the OT process
- Demonstrate the use of a problem solving approach
- Basic knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance

### Other job requirements

**Essential**

- Demonstrates knowledge and practical experiennce of assessing, prescribing and issuing appropriate equipment to meet patient's functional needs
- Knowledge of current manual handling principles and safe moving and handling techniques
