### Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a motivated and passionate Medical Secretary/PA to our Lower GI Surgery Team. You will work collaboratively with the current Secretarial Team and provide secretarial and administrative support two Consultant Lower GI Surgeons. The Lower GI Service is busy and fast paced, providing a high level of care to patients with both malignant and benign conditions.

Previous medical secretarial experience is essential, with high level typing and administrative skills. Excellent communication skills, time management and prioritisation skills, as well as attention to detail, are also essential in order to meet Trust Targets and tight deadlines. You will need to be a friendly individual who enjoys working as part of a Team, as well as individually, as the other Medical Secretaries do. Our Medical Secretaries ensure the smooth running of the Lower GI Surgery Service, whilst carrying out secretarial and administrative duties to a high standard.

### Main duties of the job

1. Typing of clinical and administrative letters.

2. Management of waiting lists and theatre lists.

3. Booking/Management of Outpatient appointments.

4. Opening and distribution of incoming mail, using judgement to decide which are for urgent action.

5. Diary management.

6. Prioritise own workload to meet Service needs and deadlines.

7. Working as part of a Team.

8. Provide effective communication via telephone, face to face and email.

9. Meeting Trust Targets.

10. Ensure that Mandatory Training is completed as required.

11. Data Protection and confidentiality in line with Trust policy and procedures.

12. Adhering to Trust Values.

### Experience

### Qualifications

- *AMSPAR Certificate/equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology
- *Working knowledge of medical terminology
