### Job overview

The post holder will be expected to work as part of the ophthalmology team and will build relationships with key staff providing an efficient, reliable service for patients. The post holder must be flexible in their approach and be able to work with administrators and medical staff at all of our six sites, providing cover as required.

The administrator is responsible for overseeing the patient pathway for our Ophthalmology clinics and for delivering a high standard of administrative customer care to a wide range of client groups, including the multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives and their carers.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic and resilient Clinical Pathway Administrator to support the delivery of the Ophthalmology situated at the Royal Free Hospital. This post is a fixed term post covering secondment leave.

This is a busy and a fast paced role within the Ophthalmology department The incoming post holder will need to have good attention to detail, be patient focus and demonstrate the ability to work independently.

The successful candidate will also be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Substantial experience of dealing with the public and/ or patients in healthcare
- Previous administrative and organisational experience
- Experience of dealing with non-routine and complex problems.
- Substantial experience in a customer service environment
- Experience of handling difficult or pressurised situations
- Experience of managing and prioritising own workload and working to deadlines.
- Understanding of the requirements regarding patient confidentiality

**Desirable**

- Experience working within Ophthalmology, knowledge of Ophthalmology pathways
- In depth knowledge of Cerner or similar administration system
- Understanding of best practice in customer service environments

### Skills and aptitudes

- Good working knowledge of IT applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent customer care practice, being polite, sympathetic, patient and diplomatic
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

- Ability to manage workload
- An ability to support service development and improvement
