### Main duties of the job

As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients’ individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.

The Senior Health Care Assistant demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the registered nurse and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines, and policies. S/he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.

Assist with the induction, supervision and training and development of Band 2 Health Care Assistants under the supervision of a registered nurse.

- There is the opportunity to develop within the role and undertake further training and development.
- To act as a role model for student nurses and colleagues.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience of working with patients in a hospital environment
- Previous experience of teamwork

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of customer care

### Skills and aptitudes

**Essential**

- Ability to learn new skills quickly.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload.
- Ability to communicate and present written information clearly
- Basic computer /key board skills
- Ability to understand and undertake monitoring of patients’ vital signs

**Desirable**

- Competent in performing investigations & procedures e.g., ECGs, catheterisation, simple dressings.
- Competent in performing cannulation and phlebotomy.
