### Job overview

The purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive support. The assistant will be expected to perform a variety of clerical/research duties within a research environment and in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation of the work.

### Main duties of the job

- Liaise with all other departments within the hospital, i.e. wards, medical outpatient departments, medical records, etc. with regard to all aspects of patient care, e.g. Appointments, investigations etc.
- Assist Research Nurse with patient’s study visits and clinical trial procedures. This will include venepuncture, vital signs, placement of Holter ECG monitoring equipment and ECG recording (after appropriate training)
- Operate computer systems to enter and retrieve data (Trust electronic patient records & Microsoft Excel etc.).
- Maintain screening logs for clinical trials.
- Collection of data using a variety of methods (face to face contacts; telephone; email etc)
- Identification of suitable patients for clinical trials (Screening medical records / wards / clinics) after appropriate training.
- Deal with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, medical staff and clinical trial personnel, recording messages where appropriate. ·
- Retrieval of medical records, investigation reports, etc. ·
- General     clerical     duties     including    filing, photocopying, faxing              and correspondence.
- Attend training courses as and when required.
- To comply with ICH GCP.
- Promote, monitor and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety.

Undertake any other duties deemed relevant to the post and grade
