The Peer Support Worker (PSW) role is designed specifically for individuals who have personal, lived experience of navigating mental health challenges and accessing mental health services. PSWs use this unique perspective to build meaningful, empathetic relationships with people who are facing similar experiences. Through the thoughtful sharing of their own recovery journey, they inspire hope, promote self-belief, and demonstrate that recovery is possible. Working as part of the Lyndon Resource Centre CMHT multidisciplinary team, the PSW will provide one-to-one and group-based peer support, helping people identify their strengths, work towards their recovery goals, and build confidence in managing their wellbeing. They will support individuals to navigate mental health services, access community resources, and develop meaningful connections that promote independence, recovery and social inclusion. As a valued member of the multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will help embed recovery-focused practice, strengthen engagement, and ensure the voice of lived experience remains at the heart of the support we provide. ### Main duties of the job As a Peer Support Worker, you will use your lived experience of mental health challenges to build trusting, supportive relationships with people accessing the Lyndon Resource Centre Community Mental Health Team. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will promote recovery, hope, empowerment and meaningful engagement. You will support people navigating secondary mental health services, helping them to identify their strengths, build confidence and develop the skills needed to live well and independently. Through one-to-one and group-based peer support, you will offer emotional support, encourage self-advocacy, and work alongside individuals to achieve the goals that matter most to them. You will help people access community resources, reduce social isolation, and strengthen connections that support recovery and wellbeing. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute a lived experience perspective to care planning and service delivery, helping to ensure support is person-centred, recovery-focused and responsive to individual needs.
