We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our established multidisciplinary team on the neuro rehabilitation ward working with patients that have had Strokes and other neurological conditions such Traumatic Brain Injury. The role will include supporting inpatients with their rehabilitation at Moseley Hall Hospital.

We are looking for a dynamic, organised, and enthusiastic Therapy Assistant to work closely alongside our Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, to support and deliver progressive rehabilitation programmes, aiding our patients to reach their maximum functional abilities and achieve their goals. The role can be physically demanding but very rewarding.

The successful candidate will require good written and verbal communication skills and be computer literate.

The post holder will be supported to work through Band 3 Therapy Assistant Competencies, with training provided as required.

Please note: The split of time between working with the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams may fluctuate depending on the needs of the patients and service.

### Main duties of the job

- To assist the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists with the assessment and ongoing therapeutic management of Neuro In-Patients. Conditions may include complex permanent disabilities, multiple pathologies, life-limiting conditions and challenging and unpredictable behaviours.
- To assist the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in delivering the Therapy Service within the unit, the community and with pre- discharge assessments of patients within their own homes.
- Reporting back to the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists on the outcomes of delegated treatments.
- To work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, supporting registered health practitioners, contributing to the effectiveness of team working in neuro rehabilitation.
- Ability to work flexibly across a 7 day working pattern and to provide support within the neuro rehabilitation beds as and when required.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience as a Health Care Support Worker or Therapy Assistant in Care of the Elderly or Rehabilitation
- Show evidence of self development and rehabilitation skills with the above mentioned
- Demonstrate ability to work as part of the MDT

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in an OT/PT Care related

### Skills/ Knowledge

**Essential**

- - Good written and verbal communication skills

**Desirable**

- - Demonstrate a knowledge of the basic aims and principles of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy and the Therapy Assistant role
- - Computer literate
- - Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy skills and completion of associated competencies
- - Knowledge of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy equipment and able to assess and fit safely in the community

### Personal Qualities
