This role with Bristol CAMHS-LD could be perfect for you. This post requires you to work with young people up to the age of 19 years who have a moderate to profound learning disability, behaviours which challenge and/or emotional and/or mental health difficulties.  The role will involve working in a variety of settings with children/young people and their families along with working collaboratively with the skilled clinicians within the multidisciplinary team and the wider multiagency Network.  The post holder will assist in the delivery of specialist support for children and young people who have a learning disability.

Right to Work in the UK This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application, as the organisation is unable to support sponsorship for this post.

### Main duties of the job

To work collaboratively as a member of the skill mixed Specialist Service for Children with Learning Disabilities. This role will involve working in a variety of settings with children/young people and their families.

To assist in the delivery of specialist support for children and young people who have a learning disability. The post holder will, under supervision of the qualified nurses, contribute to and be responsible for implementing packages of care.

The post holder will be required to work across a variety of settings (eg, family homes, educational settings and respite units) to support children and young people ensuring that they receive structured support.

This role also involves carrying out other tasks involving direct care and administrative work such as data inputting, filing and accurate recordkeeping.

To contribute to the learning environment and development of the service as an active member of the Team.

The South Gloucestershire CAMHS-LD service prides itself on multi-disciplinary working.  We are a multi-disciplinary service primary made up of Psychiatry, Learning Disability Nurses, Clinical Psychologists and Support workers.  We follow national and local guidance to promote person centred, holistic support to improve quality of life, along with improving mental well-being for young people and their families.

The post holder will be required to work across a variety of settings (e.g. family homes, educational settings and respite units) to support children and young people and their families ensuring that they receive structured support.  During The Pandemic, the role requires a mixture of working from home, along with some office working and direct working with young people in a variety of environments they access.  Resources to support remote working are provided, such as laptop and mobile phone.

We are looking for a support worker who has a passion and experience for working with young people with additional and complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs.  A kind, caring, compassionate and patient approach is essential, along with having creative and adaptable mindset are key to meet the varying needs of our service users. You will be required to travel around the county to carry out direct work, so the ability to travel is essential.

## Person Specification

### Essential knowledge, skills and experience

**Essential**

- Good standard of education GCSE or equivalent
- NVQ3 in direct care/child care or equivalent levels of experience
- Basic IT skills including being confident creating visual support aids
- Significant experience of working professionally with children and/or learning disabilities
- Excellent communication skills including face to face, telephone and written communication
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
- Awareness of Child Protection policies and procedures
