### Job overview

We are looking for an one enthusiastic and motivated Audiologist to join our expanding service. This will be a full time post.

You will be a qualified Audiologist - possessing  BSc (Hons) in Audiology or equivalent qualifications (or a BSc Student nearing completion of studies) or be in possession of PTP equivalence, either holding or eligible for AHCS or HCPC HAD registration with a commitment to providing high quality Audiology Services.

We  are a friendly team, striving to provide excellent care for our patients in a supportive and empowering environment. You will deliver patient centered care using streamlined pathways and will be responsible for safe use and storage of equipment.

The successful applicant will be based at West park Hospital and will work at venues across Wolverhampton and Cannock,   We provide a Domiciliary visiting service for our home based patients. The ability to travel between sites is essential and a  commitment to regular travel is expected. You must have business use on your car insurance.

### Main duties of the job

The Post holder will participate in providing a comprehensive Audiology Service with a focus on routine non-AQP adult audiology. The post holders will be a post-graduate qualified and will be accountable to the team leader for performance.

The services cover paediatric activity at the Gem Centre, Adult Services at West Park, ENT Services and Vestibular and Adult Neuro-diagnostic Testing at New Cross and Adult Services and Vestibular Rehabilitation at Cannock.

The post holder(s) will deliver patient centred care using streamlined pathways.

The post holder will deliver training and supervision to other staff and students and ensure that clinical and professional standards are maintained at all times.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Results Areas

To undertake routine diagnostic testing and rehabilitation in adults and/or paediatric audiology (over 5 year olds) for patients with hearing and balance problems. This is likely to include:

Routine assessment of hearing loss in adults and older children and interpretation of test results

Assisting  with vestibular testing.

Routine assessment and counselling for patients with bothersome tinnitus.

Comprehensive rehabilitation techniques, including counselling distressed patients / carers about hearing loss and associated problems

Assessing suitability for hearing aids including CROS/BICROS and BAHA and carrying out appropriate intervention or referring to BAHA team

Monitoring benefit from intervention and developing appropriate care pathways

Responsible for both verbal and written communication of the assessment and/or intervention outcome to the patient, parent or carer and to the wider multi-disciplinary team and external agencies.

Responsible for following clinical protocols and referral pathways for all clinical pathways within own area of work, proposing and commenting on changes identified as necessary in line with current evidence based practice.

Monitoring equipment stock and supplies in own service area, requesting appropriate stock and ensuring safe use of equipment by self and other team members.

Participate in the delivery of training schemes, and train less experienced staff within the service in own area of expertise. Support a culture of education and research within the service.

Ensure the adherence to clinical governance processes within the service area.

Ensure Health and Safety Incidents are reported via Datix and escalated to senior team members as appropriate.

Completing all required entries on Trust and department clinical record systems in a timely manner

Carry out general duties and maintain a programme of continuing professional development

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc (Hons) Audiology or PTP equivalence
- AHCS/HCPC registered OR
- BTEC MPPM (or equivalent)
- BAAT Part 1 & 2 (or equivalent)

### Experience/Skills

**Essential**

- Realistic expectation of Band 5 responsibilities
- Ability to effectively deal with staff/public
- Experience of working in a clinical Audiology setting
- Understanding of confidentiality

### Communication Skills
