### Job overview

The Eastern Pathology Alliance is formed from three Pathology Laboratories based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), the James Paget University Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn.

The Laboratory at NNUH provides a large range of Blood Sciences services comprising Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion, Immunology and Toxicology. The service provides test results reports to support the Acute Trust and Primary Care Trusts requirements.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Practitioner Healthcare Scientist in Haematology laboratory. Full training will be given in all aspects of the role.

### Main duties of the job

An Associate Practitioner Healthcare scientist is required to perform a range of analyses in the NNUH Blood Sciences Laboratory covering haematology utilising knowledge and skills gained through a Foundation Degree or Certificate of Achievement Part 2 and relevant practical experience.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role provides support to the Haematology Department and requires skills and knowledge to prepare and process FBC and coagulation samples using a variety of techniques including operation of complex analysers as well as blood film preparation and staining and sample preparation for routine and specialised coagulation testing.

To provide information and advice to service users regarding queries and communication of laboratory results were needed.

Please note that this advertised position, which is part of occupation code 2559 does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa. The Trust would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.

- Able to use laboratory equipment ranging from manual pipettes to Microscopes
- Ability to perform a range of tests appropriate to the post
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team under supervision

### Experience

- Experience using a laboratory information management system

**Desirable**

- Significant experience in Pathology

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Foundation degree or Certificate of Achievement Part 2

**Desirable**

- To have a basic understanding of good laboratory practice and health and safety.
