### Job overview

The post holder will lead shifts from a trauma informed perspective, guiding the team  within the managing risk framework at the service.

The post holder will guide junior colleagues in the interventions on each shift and will also  have individual staff to provide with supervision/reflective practice.

They are responsible for the health and safety of each shift, reporting/escalating to senior managers or on call  issues which cannot be contained within the shift.

The post holder will lead on some activities in the house and be responsible with others that the environment maintains the privacy, dignity and respect of all those who use the service. The post holder will take a lead role in the house during out of hour shifts.

This job description is written as an indication of the nature and scope of duties and responsibilities. Additional competencies may be required to fulfill the needs of specific areas and client groups. The post holder will be expected to be flexible and to carry out other duties assigned by the Team Manager, which are appropriate to the grade, nature and changing needs of the role.

The successful applicant will be part of a forthcoming move to a brand new facility at The Roger Sylvester Centre at Canning Crescent, Wood Green, N22

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will utilize their skills and knowledge of Mental Health Services, drawing on recovery based strategies and role modeling hope. They will work within the MDT at the house and play a fundamental role in developing and supporting current practice in the Crisis Prevention House. These posts will have a clinical caseload by working directly with people referred to the Crisis Prevention Houses. In addition, working closely with the clinical team, and Peer worker colleagues.

## Person Specification

### Educational

**Essential**

- PG Dip Mental Health or NVQ Level IV in care or equivalent OR Two years (minimum) working experience in a mental health setting

**Desirable**

- Related Health or Social Care qualification
- Willingness to undertake further training relevant to and in line with the development of recovery worker role.

### Skills/ Abilities

**Essential**

- Ability to assess clinical situations quickly and use initiative
- Ability to maintain boundaries and form positive therapeutic relationship with service users and carers
- Is able to provide practical support with daily living activities

**Desirable**

- Group facilitation skills

### Experience/ Knowledge

**Essential**

- Experience in a health or social care setting
- Experience of liaising with other agencies

**Desirable**

- - knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007 in particular Part 3 of the Act and other legislation's such as Safe Guiding Children, Adults, DOLS, Mental Capacity Act 2005
