This is a Senior Leadership role in the Finance Team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, you will help shape and deliver the Trust’s financial strategy, supporting long-term sustainability, financial recovery and high-quality patient care.

You will lead annual and multi-year financial planning, working closely with clinical, operational and system partners. The role will influence decisions at Trust and Integrated Care System level, supporting transformation, capital investment and population health objectives. You will lead the Trust’s costing strategy, including PLICS and Service Line Reporting, to support data-led decisions, service redesign and productivity improvement. Operating with significant autonomy, you will deputise for the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, represent the Trust regionally and nationally, and support delivery of sustainable financial balance.

We are seeking an experienced NHS finance leader with a strong track record in strategy, planning, costing, modelling and transformation, and the ability to influence senior clinical and operational leaders. You will be confident, resilient and able to manage competing priorities, lead teams through change and translate complex financial information into clear insight for decision making.

### Main duties of the job

- Lead development and delivery of the Trust’s annual and multi‑year financial plans, including the financial recovery plan, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
- Provide strategic financial leadership across the organisation, ensuring robust systems, governance and financial intelligence support delivery of financial and transformation objectives.
- Take overall responsibility for the Trust’s costing function, including PLICS and Service Line Reporting, and embed data‑driven decision making across clinical and operational teams.
- Lead business planning and coordinate the production and submission of financial plans and returns in line with NHSE requirements.
- Provide financial leadership for major transformation programmes and investment decisions, including developing financial modelling and reviewing business cases to ensure value for money and compliance with national guidance.
- Influence and contribute to system‑wide financial planning and service transformation across the Integrated Care System.
- Deputise for the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and represent the Trust at regional and national forums where required.
