This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate registered nurse to join our Neurology team as a Band 6 Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). The successful applicant will benefit from a structured 18-month development programme, receiving comprehensive training, clinical supervision, and dedicated support to develop the specialist knowledge and skills required for advanced practice in neurology.

Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while building expertise in the assessment, management, and support of patients with neurological conditions.

On successful completion of the development programme and achievement of the agreed competencies, the postholder will automatically progress to a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist role, providing an excellent career pathway for nurses aspiring to specialist and advanced practice. ### Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will:

- Under the supervision of the CNS, use their professional and clinical skills, to act as a resource and  advocate for patients within their specialty.
- Act as a keyworker and support the co-ordination of  patient care along the treatment pathway.
- Work as a core member of the MDT supporting the  cancer pathway to improve the patient experience.
- Play a key role in the development and co-ordination of services with the aim of optimising patient care.
- Deliver evidence based individualised patient care according to patient’s changing health care needs, through holistic needs assessment (HNA).

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Relevant post registration experience, in cancer, palliative care or the specialty
- Leadership experience
- Experience of multi-professional working

**Desirable**

- Experience of independent practice
- HNA training and undertaking eHNA
- Experience of writing policies and procedures.
- Experience of audit and research

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered General Nurse
- Degree in healthcare related subject
- Accredited learning or mentoring certificate
- Evidence of continued professional development

**Desirable**

- Psychological skills training- Level 2
- Advanced Communications Skills Training
- Level 7 qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant clinical subject

### Knowledge and Expertise

**Essential**

- Knowledge of current management pathways relating to specialty

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of Macmillan Cancer Support and it’s role across the UK
