Sherwood Forest Hospitals is recruiting motivated, reliable and detail‑focused individuals to join our Endoscopy Decontamination teams across multiple sites. This is a vital role that directly supports safe patient care by ensuring endoscopes are reprocessed, disinfected and stored to the highest standards.

You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for the safe turnaround of endoscopy equipment, ensuring clinical areas can continue to deliver high‑quality diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Re‑process used endoscopes to ensure they are safe and ready for reuse.
- Manually clean endoscopes prior to placing them into washer‑disinfectors for high‑level disinfection.
- Prepare endoscopes for placement into drying and storage cabinets following decontamination.
- Operate and complete required daily testing on all disinfection and processing equipment, following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Work flexibly across sites, including King’s Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous NHS experience
- Experience of working in a Decontamination Service

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Adequate level of education to perform in the role; for example, pass grade in GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent, to demonstrate appropriate level of literacy and numeracy
- Basic keyboard skills

**Desirable**

- GCSE Maths and English
- Apprenticeship - Decontamination

### Further Training

**Essential**

- Training in all aspects of departmental processes required

**Desirable**

- NHS National Decontamination Training Programme

### Knowledge Requirements

**Desirable**

- Health & Safety issues
- Moving & handling procedures

### Contractual Requirements

**Essential**

- Medically cleared by Occupational Health as fit to undertake the duties & responsibilities of the role
- Bank holiday cover
- On-call rota
- Saturday and Sunday working rota
- Service provision to both King’s Mill Hospital and Newark sites
