An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Genetics Department for a motivated and capable individual to join our management team as an Assistant Service Manager.

This is an excellent development opportunity for someone who is ready to move into a management role or build on their existing management experience. Working closely with the Service Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the service, leading our administrative teams and helping to ensure a high-quality experience for patients and colleagues.

### Main duties of the job

As Assistant Service Manager, you will oversee the administration of the Clinical Genetics service, including our Appointments, Cancer Genetics and Rare Diseases teams. We are looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident in working with people. You will be able to build positive relationships, support staff through challenges and deal with difficult situations fairly and professionally. You will be comfortable making decisions, taking ownership of issues and working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will work closely with clinicians, genetic counsellors and colleagues across the wider organisation to ensure the smooth running of the service. Experience of clinical activity coordination, waiting list management or NHS performance standards would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, leadership potential and willingness to learn.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure.
- Confidence in addressing staffing and performance issues fairly and consistently.
- Good judgement and problem-solving skills.
- A positive, proactive and flexible approach.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A willingness to support colleagues and contribute to team success.
- A commitment to delivering an excellent experience for both patients and staff.

In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your operational management, leadership and service improvement skills within a specialist regional service. Full support will be provided to help you grow in the role and achieve your future career aspirations.

If you are looking for a new challenge, are willing to get involved and are ready to take the next step in your career, we would encourage you to apply.

For further information about the role and its responsibilities, please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification.

We look forward to hearing from you
