### Job summary

This post aims to widen participation in psychology careers by providing paid clinical experience for psychology graduates who have experienced barriers to entering the profession, including socioeconomic disadvantage, caring responsibilities, being a care leaver, disability, or belonging to groups underrepresented within psychology.

Working within a Community Mental Health Team, the postholder will support psychological assessment, intervention, audit, service evaluation and group work under the supervision of qualified therapists. The role will provide valuable experience in psychological assessment, intervention, service evaluation and multidisciplinary working supporting future applications for psychology training and careers.

At present, the Trust is unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this post. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.

### Main duties of the job

Clinical

1.Assist with psychological assessments under supervision

2.Assist in formulation and delivery of psychological treatment and management under supervision

3.Assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups

4.Keep high standards of timely therapy records and reports to referrers and other professionals under supervision

5.Participate in team meetings as required

6.Work within HIOW NHS Foundation Trust professional policies and guidelines

7.Deal appropriately with intense emotional atmospheres of therapy contacts, with intense periods of concentration

8.Sit in a constrained position for extended client appointments

9.Receive regular clinical supervision

Research and Development Activity

1.Support research projects, under supervision, through data collection, analysis and the production of reports and summaries

2.Undertake literature searches and research to assist qualified psychology staff in evidence based practice

3.Preparation and presentation of materials for effective teaching and training

4. Perform other duties of a similar kind appropriate to grade, required at times by line Manager

Communications and Working Relationships

1.Develop good working relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues

2.Communicate verbally and in writing, complex and sensitive information, clearly and appropriately to different settings or audiences, including highly emotive situations when views may be divergent and to those with impaired communication capacities

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working with other people, and to be able to use transferable skills in being able to work with people who experience high levels of distress.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- An upper second class honours degree or above in psychology (or an explanation about why is may not have been reached).
- Entitlement to GBR from the British Psychological Society
