An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board on a Permanent Part-time basis.  There may be scope for additional hours, although this cannot be guaranteed at this time.

The successful candidate would be joining a friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary Perinatal Team as well as a thriving and forward thinking psychology specialty which enjoys close links with the South Wales Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology.

We enjoy a very good reputation as an energetic and inspiring department with excellent levels of professional support and identity and provide a regular forum to learn from one another and develop your ability as a reflective scientist-practitioner.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deliver low intensity psychological interventions, conduct observations, engage service users and assist the qualified Psychologists with assessments and interventions.

The successful candidate will support the work of the qualified psychologists by undertaking audit and evaluation, assisting with teaching, training and service development projects.

The successful candidate will be required to travel across the ABUHB area to provide assessments and interventions in service users own homes or in a clinic, and to assist with teaching and training locally and sometimes further afield. Therefore, the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is essential.  Telephone and on-line support/training will also be a requirement of the post.

The successful applicants will benefit from high levels of support and high quality supervision throughout.   There is plentiful opportunity for informal contact with peers and with qualified staff.

We welcome applications from individuals who have previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist on an honorary or paid basis, who are motivated and able to use their initiative.  We also welcome applications from people with lived experience of psychological distress or use of mental health services.  Options for flexible working are available.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Voluntary or paid experience in  mental health services or caring  environments

**Desirable**

- Previous work as an  Assistant Psychologist or  Research Assistant.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Good honours degree in Psychology  (First or Second Class)
- Eligibility for Graduate Membership of  the BPS

**Desirable**

- Research degree
- Training or formal  qualifications in an  evidence-based  psychological therapy
