### Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Psychologist to join our team on the Working Age Adult inpatient wards, supporting individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs.

In this role, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care. All clinical duties—including psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions—are carried out under the direct clinical oversight and supervision of a qualified psychologist, who retains overall responsibility for your caseload.

### Main duties of the job

- Clinical Assessments & Formulations: Conduct formal psychological assessments and develop tailored formulations to help guide each patient's care plan.
- Intervention Delivery: Facilitate both individual and group-based evidence-informed psychological interventions designed to support therapeutic progress and recovery.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Liaise closely with nurses, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and wider ward staff to contribute a psychological perspective to care planning and ward culture.
- Clinical Supervision & Governance: Engage actively in regular clinical supervision provided by a qualified psychologist, ensuring all practice adheres to professional standards and safety guidelines.
- Patient Care & Wellbeing: Promote a compassionate, trauma-informed environment that enhances the overall mental health, dignity, and wellbeing of inpatients throughout their admission.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working with patients with mental health problems and/or other disabilities (minimum 6 months)
- Experience of applying psychological models to clinical/care settings.

**Desirable**

- Previous Acute experience.
- Experience of running group therapy sessions
- Previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and/or Research Assistant (Highly Desirable)

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Able to work in a multidisciplinary environment and within a multidisciplinary team setting.

**Desirable**

- Knowledge and skills in working with acute distress, complex presentations

### Training, Qualifications & registration

**Essential**

- Undergraduate Psychology degree minimum Honours 2:1
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

**Desirable**

- Undergraduate Psychology degree: First Class or Undergraduate Psychology degree plus Masters in relevant topic.
