### Main duties of the job

This is an Assistant Psychologist post supporting the work we do at Southampton CAMHS with the Youth Justice Service (YJS). Southampton Youth Justice Service (SYJS based at Southampton City Council, Civic Centre, Southampton, SO14 7LY) works with children from as young as 10 up to 18 years of age, that break the law. These children could have been sentenced by a court or have come to the attention of the police but not been charged.

The post holder will work closely with clinical psychology colleagues and the Southampton's Youth Justice Team to support the delivery of care for the young people referred to CAMHS that also receive support from the Youth Justice Service. You will support the development of psychological formulations that seeks to understand how a young person's experiences of trauma, neurodivergence, and/or their interactions with different systems creates distress and vulnerabilities to further harm.

We require an Assistant Psychologist who has experience working with a children's social care or mental health setting as this is a higher banding AP post.
