A 1.0 WTE vacancy has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic applicant to join the Cancer Psychological Support (CaPS) Team. The CaPS service offers specialist psychological support and mental health expertise to those affected by a diagnosis of cancer and its treatment. The team is made up of experienced clinicians who are able to work with patients to address their psychological and emotional needs using a range of evidence-based interventions. You would be working alongside colleagues from clinical psychology, systemic family therapy and liaison psychiatry. This role will involve supporting the day to day work of the CaPS team, including assisting with patient triage, service developments, supporting outcome measurement and data collection/analysis. Other clinically related and patient-facing tasks would also be required including researching and liaising with other services and healthcare professionals, and opportunities may arise to support clinicians in individual therapy work. ### Main duties of the job The successful candidate would need to be motivated, organised and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team. It is not necessary to have experience in working with those affected by cancer, although an interest in psychology as related to physical health conditions would be valued. Research, staff training and education across cancer services form a significant part of the work of the CaPS team. There will also be opportunities to support in service evaluation and audit, so strong skills working with data and research methods would also be beneficial. Experience of the research process ### Personal **Essential** - An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines & people with mental health problems or other disabilities. Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently & using supervision appropriately/effectively. A desire to explore a career in Applied Psychology **Desirable** - An interest in working with people with mental health problems or other disabilities. ### Knowledge **Essential** - An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with physical or mental health problems& ability to apply this to a physical and mental health context ### Experience **Essential** - Experience of working with people with physical health problems / mental health problems (voluntary or paid work). Demonstrated ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals. **Desirable** - Specific experience/knowledge associated with physical health problems ### Qualifications and Training **Essential** - To have attained an 2.1 or higher undergraduate degree in Psychology. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society **Desirable** - Experience with service development and/or research.
