An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist within the CAMHS Bassetlaw Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service.

The Clinical Psychology service provides high quality psychological assessment as part of the Bassetlaw Neurodevelopmental Panel for children and young people where there are developmental concerns.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

To support and carry out defined assessments of children up to 19 years old under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist as part of a multidisciplinary assessment panel.

Demonstrate empathy persuasion and reassurance to vulnerable patients and their carers To work with senior clinicians to initiate, maintain and strengthen positive working relationships with all young people and their families that are referred to the service

Demonstrate excellent and effective communication skills, applicable primarily when working with young people and their families, and when engaged with other professionals

Communicate sensitive and pertinent information to children, families, relatives, and other professionals

Demonstrate empathy and reassurance and be clear and concise in delivery.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will: Support and carry out a range of psychometric and other assessments with people where there are neurodevelopmental. These may include observations, interviews, psychometric assessments.

Design and analyse behaviour or other records completed by staff or carers.

Support the senior clinical psychologist and MDT staff in the feedback of assessment results to children, their families and support networks. Support data collection and analysis, for both clinical and service evaluation, as required.  This may include collecting and reviewing a variety of data such as psychometric scores, interview data, historical information, literature searches.  It may also involve data analysis and report writing under supervision

## Person Specification

### Knowldge

**Essential**

- Have a working understanding of child and adolescent development
- Knowledge of methods for collating and analysing data

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of child related psychometric tests
- Knowledge of brain-behaviour relationships

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of paid or voluntary work with children or adults in a health, care or educational setting

**Desirable**

- Experience of administering questionnaires or standardised psychometric tests.
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Audit or research experience

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- An approved qualification in psychology conferring eligibility for graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society, with either a Bachelor’s degree (Class 2.1 or higher) or a Bachelor’s degree (any class) together with a higher degree.

### Contractual Requirements

**Essential**

- Full Driving Licence and use of a car
