As a qualified psychology graduate, the Oxford Brain Health Centre (BHC) can offer you a one-year fixed term post with potential to extend for an additional 6 months (one position available) in a friendly, supportive and innovative team. This is a combined clinical and research role working within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust with close links to Oxford University.

The Oxford Brain Health Centre (BHC) is a joint initiative between Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford University (supported by the Oxford Health cognitive health Clinical Research Facility) that is developing novel and efficient ways of assessing people prior to memory clinic appointments with a view of identifying diseases which could lead to dementia earlier and more accurately.

The University of Oxford aims to lead the world in research and education for the benefit of society, both in the UK and globally. Oxford’s researchers engage with academic, commercial and cultural partners across the world to stimulate high-quality research and enable innovation through a broad range of social, policy and economic impacts.

### Main duties of the job

Some of the main duties and responsibilities include:

- Undertake clinical assessments of people attending the Brain Health Centre for memory assessments under supervision of the BHC Clinical Coordinator and other relevant staff
- Active involvement in the Community Mental Health Team Memory Clinics
- Support the work of the Community Mental Health Teams as appropriate
- Carry out administrative tasks e.g. completing patient related data in electronic recording systems including risk assessment and care planning, data and statistical analysis
- Support with duties such as audit, data collection, analysis and the production of reports for research projects
- Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping

The Brain Health Centre offers a friendly, supportive and dedicated team environment. There will be lots of opportunities to be involved in combined clinical and research work which has a direct impact on the care that patients receive within memory clinic services.

The post holder will work within the Brain Health centre on Tuesdays each week. Other weekdays will be spent working within the CMHT Memory Clinics.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities.
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health and policy context
- An understanding of psychology applied to healthcare
- Experience and a good knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context

**Desirable**

- Experience using databases
- Highstandard of report writing

### Experience

**Essential**

- Work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with older people and or people with dementia
- Experience of data entry and data analysis

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- An upper second-class honours degree, or higher in Psychology.  Entitlement to graduate membership of the BPS

**Desirable**

- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
