Band 5 Assistant Psychologist Neurodevelopmental Service for CWPT

Are you looking to be part of a new friendly, expanding and dynamic multi-disciplinary team -working with individuals with Neurodevelopmental Disorders including Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Conditions, ADHD, Sensory processing difficulties and Dyspraxia?

The service is an extension of the established and successful Children and Young Peoples Neurodevelopmental Service, recently rated by the CQC overall as ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ for being caring. The neurodevelopmental service uses a multidisciplinary assessment model, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary working and drive to provide a thorough assessment with focus on post-diagnostic support and intervention. Due to recent funding we are looking for an Assistant Psychologist with experience in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. The role will support the external providers in completing assessment and diagnostic process by undertaking tasks such as clinical triage and working with and providing support and advice to our families awaiting an assessment. It may also include the development of on line resources to support our service users.

The successful applicant will help contribute towards clinically supporting the team in working with our external providers. You will have the support and supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As this role involves travel to training venues and meetings at other service bases, it is essential that you have access to a car and can travel around the county as required (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

You are required to hold a Psychology Degree giving GBR status with the British Psychological Society, Grade 2:1 or above.

Please note: It is mandatory requirement for all newly appointed staff to be registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Update Service.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, relating to complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Participate and undertake audit evaluation and research. Completed clinical audits within a service
- Ability to function in a largely autonomous fashion, subject to suitable supervision
- Appropriate understanding of confidentiality in a mental health context
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health / benefits & employment systems
- Some knowledge safeguarding issues and other relevant legislation

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience relevant to the post e.g. in Mental health
- Competent in a range of IT skills appropriate to the post
- Ability to meet agreed / specified service targets. Working in a manner consistent with the service.
- Working as a member of a team or team environment
- Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Psychology Degree giving GBR status with the British Psychological Society, Grade 2:1 or above
- Some experience of working with people in a caring role.
- Adhering to a relevant code of ethics
