Based in Chorley, the service provides a specialist assessment and treatment for individuals who experience a significant range of distressing symptoms following an event(s) which they have found to be traumatic. A key part of this role is working with clients who are on the treatment waiting list and to provide them with the psychological skills to help manage and alleviate their distress. These structured preparatory interventions are delivered either online or face-face. If you have a special interest in trauma and are passionate about supporting others to enhance their emotional wellbeing then please do apply. The post holder is required to have a psychology degree with graduate basis for registration with the BPS (British Psychological Society) OR a qualification as a MHWP or PWP ### Main duties of the job The post-holder will work in a defined area of health and social care. This may be acute healthcare, mental health and / or community mental health. The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and of different ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities For more details on this vacancy please review the attached job description and person specification. ## Person Specification ### Knowledge **Essential** - Demonstrates an understanding of lifespan psychology applied to health care. - Demonstrates an understanding of the needs & difficulties of people with psychological / mental health difficulties or other disabilities. **Desirable** - Experience of working within a secondary care service, specifically delivering low intensity psychological interventions to service users experiencing trauma-related difficulties. - Demonstrates an understanding of the clinical practice of psychological interventions. - Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post ### Experience **Essential** - Experience of working with people who experience difficulties with mental health and / or physical health. - To have worked as part of a team in a clinical setting. - Experience of conducting research projects of service related audit. **Desirable** - Experience of delivering training. - Experience of group work. ### Education / Qualifications **Essential** - A minimum of a second-class honours degree or higher in psychology. - Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. - Evidence of completing training in delivering psychological interventions.
