A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the substance misuse service for an experienced, motivated and forward thinking Assistant Practitioner to join a busy supportive team based at HMP Berwyn.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to deliver clinical interventions including screening for Blood Borne Viruses, promoting Hepatitis B vaccinations and assisting with caseloads. You will be working within a team of clinicians dedicated to working towards micro elimination of hepatitis C whilst also focusing on HIV and hepatitis B to a population of men from all backgrounds.

Good communication skills are vital as the role will include direct support to service users on the treatment pathway and establishing good working relationships with both the prison and community services. The role will also include delivering training sessions to prisoners and staff in promoting awareness including the potential routes of transmission, management and treatment of Blood Borne Viruses.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

### Main duties of the job

You will be expected to attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, liaise with community teams and assist, where necessary, with administration tasks such as data collection and audits to ensure the service is meeting and maintaining its recommended targets as required by Welsh Government, Public Health Wales and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Practitioner with a real interest in Blood Borne Viruses and will be expected to perform Fibro scanning, completing Dry Blood Spot Testing, taking oral swabs and be trained in phlebotomy.

Our aim is to identify staff with a strong belief in recovery, it is important that you have good understanding of caring for patients from all backgrounds including an awareness of mental illness and substance misuse to identify risky behaviours.

You will be joining a team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of patients under our care so you will need to be approachable, energetic, resilient and adaptable to an ever-changing environment.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience working within a relevant clinical service as a senior HCA / HCSW

**Desirable**

- Experience of working at as an Assistant Practitioner within a relevant clinical service

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience
- Recent evidence of putting into practice evidence based clinical knowledge (equivalent to career level 4)
- Understanding of the competency boundaries of an Assistant Practitioner role

**Desirable**

- Has completed Foundation Degree modules within a directly relevant clinical field
