We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Band 7 Assistant Operational Manager to support service delivery across Health Protection (Immunisation) and the Department of Sexual Health.

Working closely with the Head of Operations, Operations Manager and multidisciplinary teams, the post holder will support the safe, effective and efficient day-to-day running of both services across multiple sites. The role includes coordinating workforce, managing operational performance, and ensuring services remain responsive to demand and aligned with organisational and public health priorities.

The post holder will provide operational leadership across both service areas, supporting staff, service improvement and delivery of key performance targets, with a visible leadership presence at Cardiff Royal Infirmary and Woodland House.

The role requires the ability to manage competing priorities, respond to changing service pressures, and maintain high standards of quality and patient experience.

The post holder will work autonomously within defined frameworks, using initiative and sound judgement to support decision-making and service resilience within a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is essential to provide cross-cover across both services.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with multidisciplinary teams to support the delivery of high quality, efficient and responsive Immunisation and Sexual Health services.

- Support the day-to-day operational management of services, ensuring effective coordination of clinics, workforce and resources
- Provide leadership and line management to administrative, digital and operational staff, supporting performance, development and a positive team culture
- Support the planning and delivery of vaccination programmes and Sexual Health services, ensuring services are responsive to demand and aligned with national and organisational priorities
- Monitor and analyse service activity, performance and demand, identifying risks and implementing actions to maintain delivery and meet key targets
- Coordinate workforce requirements, including rota and absence management, ensuring appropriate staffing levels across services
- Contribute to service improvement, policy implementation and operational process development
- Manage and respond to incidents, complaints and risks, ensuring appropriate escalation and learning
- Support effective communication and collaboration across teams, stakeholders and partners
- Deputise for senior operational leads where required
- Work independently using initiative to manage competing pressures and provide cross-cover to ensure service resilience
