### Job overview

Team QEH have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our Medical Secretariat Team. We are looking for an Assistant Medical Secretary to provide secretarial assistance to PA’s, Senior Medical Secretaries and Consultants.  This position is a trainee post and there is potential for progression within the Secretariat.

Previous secretarial experience is desirable but not essential for this post.

### Main duties of the job

As part of your role you will liaise with other colleagues in the team to contribute to the smooth running of the department.

You will need to be well organised and able to deal with the public efficiently and politely.  Previous typing/word processing skills are desirable for this post although not essential, the desire to learn audio typing and medical terminology would be advantageous .

As a key aspect of this role you will need to be able to use the Patient Centre information system in accordance with Trust procedures in a timely way to assist in co-ordination of care pathways (training will be given).

As the successful candidate you will be required to work to a very high standard.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous clerical experience
- Previous experience of working in an office environment
- Accurate typing skills

**Desirable**

- Previous NHS experience Knowledge of Information Technology
- Knowledge of Medical Records Library
- Good understanding of Patient Centre
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- RSA II word processing or equivalent
- RSA II typing qualification or equivalent

### Skills, abilities, and knowledge

**Essential**

- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people including medical staff and patients

**Desirable**

- Audio typing experience

### Qualifications/training & professional development

**Essential**

- English GCSE Grade A to C or equivalent
- Maths GCSE Grade A to C or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Medical Secretaries’ apprenticeship
