Following the promotion of the current postholder an exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the finance team as an Assistant Finance Officer. ### Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide support to the Directorate Accountant in the delivery of financial and statutory obligations of the Trusts Financial Management function. Responsibility for supporting the production of financial information and providing support to a group of clinical and departmental budget holders. To be a key member of the Trust’s Finance Department and contribute to the delivery of its overall objectives.

Responsible to the Directorate Accountant, the post holder will be required to demonstrate initiative in dealing with queries from Managers, Doctors, Commissioners and other staff within the Trust.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work as part of the Income Team, assisting the Finance officers in providing support on all financial matters. To also assist in providing financial information as and when necessary which relate to Trust issues.

Working with the Corporate Accountant, the post holder will develop and produce information to support accurate and timely monthly Income position for for the Trust and to feed into the Trusts position for internal and external corporate reporting

The post does not have any direct supervisory responsibility, however the post holder would be expected to support the Finance Officers in training new staff in what is quite a technically demanding role.

The nature of the position requires that the post plays a role in the financial reporting of the Trust. High levels of IT skills are essential to deal with the wide range of systems used within the department

The nature of the post requires a high level of VDU usage. In addition, the monthly reporting cycle requires a high level of input for approximately 2 weeks out of every month, this can be extremely demanding at times.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Possess a high degree of numeracy and accuracy and the ability to work with spreadsheets to provide high quality financial information
- Demonstrable ability to work with Microsoft Office particularly Excel, Access and Word.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- GCSE Maths or equivalent

**Desirable**

- AAT or equivalent

### Personal Attributes

**Essential**

- Demonstrable ability to organize their own work and demonstrate initiative required to ensure that all tasks are completed.
- Good communication in order to work effectively, confidently liaising with staff within the department, Trust and other Trusts
- Demonstrates high level of commitment to personal and professional development.
