### Assistant Directorate Manager - Urgent & Emergency Care

We are currently looking for a highly organised, motivated, and efficient individual to join our dynamic Directorate within the Urgent Care division. The post holder will provide support to the Deputy Directorate Manager in the operational delivery and performance management of the A&E administrative services ensuring key targets are maintained and sustained.

As part of the role, the post holder will be required to work as part of the management team to ensure sound administrative processes are in place in order to support the clinical teams to achieve operational objectives in an efficient and effective way.

The position will oversee the day-to-day management of administration staff including appraisal and objective setting, recruitment and retention therefore experience in these areas is essential. It is important that the post holder can communicate effectively and develop and maintain positive working relationships with managerial, non-clinical and clinical staff and all partner agencies across the Division and Trust

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide operational, administrative and business management support to the Urgent and Emergency Care (U&EC) Directorate, with a particular focus on the safe, effective and timely delivery of Urgent Care services. Working closely with the Deputy Directorate Manager, clinical and nursing leaders and corporate teams, the post holder will co-ordinate day-to-day operational activity, workforce processes, performance information, governance actions and service improvement. The role will contribute directly to patient flow, quality, access and productivity across the Emergency Department and associated Urgent Care pathways, and will be expected to deputise for the Deputy Directorate Manager within agreed limits when required.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to A level or equivalent relevant knowledge and experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to operational or business management.

**Desirable**

- Management, leadership, project management or service improvement qualification.
- Further training in NHS management, data analysis, finance or human resources.

### Skills & Abilities

**Essential**

- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
- Ability to interpret and present complex operational, workforce, quality and financial information accurately.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to handle sensitive or challenging situations professionally.

**Desirable**

- Competence in NHS systems such as electronic patient records, PAS, business intelligence, e-rostering and incident reporting systems.
- Ability to apply structured improvement or project tools and produce project documentation.
- Understanding of NHS finance, workforce planning, information governance and data quality.
- Ability to chair meetings and deliver presentations to multidisciplinary groups.

### Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working in an operational, administrative or business management role within the NHS or a similarly complex organisation.
- Experience of supervising or line managing staff, including appraisal, attendance, performance and development.
- Experience of monitoring performance, analysing data and producing clear reports, action plans or presentations.
- Knowledge of urgent and emergency care operational pressures, patient flow and relevant performance standards.

**Desirable**

- Experience within an Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre, Same Day Emergency Care or acute medicine setting.
- Experience of complaints, incident, risk or governance processes.
- Experience of budget monitoring, establishment control, procurement or temporary staffing processes.
