These are developmental roles, suitable for candidates with a relevant technical, electrical, electronic, mechanical or healthcare equipment background who are keen to develop specialist skills in dental engineering. The successful candidates will work under supervision, with support from senior engineering staff, to build competence through practical experience, internal knowledge transfer and targeted training.

### Main duties of the job

They will liaise with clinical teams to understand equipment issues, log work appropriately, support timely escalation of more complex faults and help ensure equipment is available, safe and fit for clinical use.

The role will involve working across Dental Services and supporting a responsive technical service to clinical areas. The post holders will be expected to develop their knowledge of dental equipment, medical device safety, infection prevention requirements, health and safety, and relevant technical standards.

Supporting equipment testing, acceptance checks and technical evaluations where required.

Following relevant Trust policies, health and safety requirements, infection prevention standards, risk management processes and medical device governance arrangements.

Participating in training and development to build specialist knowledge of dental equipment maintenance, safety testing, fault finding and clinical engineering practice.

The post holders will not be expected to work as fully independent specialist engineers from day one. These are developmental roles, with supervision, practical experience and targeted training forming part of the route to competence.
