At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

We are seeking an Apprentice/Trainee Healthcare Science Practitioner to join the Radiotherapy Physics team at University Hospitals of North Midlands.

This exciting opportunity combines practical workplace training with a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Healthcare Science (Medical Physics Technology), specialising in Radiotherapy Physics. Working within the Radiotherapy Dosimetry Service, you will support the production of radiotherapy treatment plans, personalised cancer treatments, and patient immobilisation devices while developing specialist knowledge in medical physics. The role includes a blend of hands-on clinical experience, academic study, and block-release training at UWE Bristol, leading to a BSc (Hons) qualification and eligibility for registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT).

Salary will be as follows:

- Starting salary: Agenda for Change Band 3
- Following successful completion of Year 1 and all required academic modules, the salary for Years 2 and 3 will increase to Agenda for Change Band 4
- Upon successful completion of the degree apprenticeship and professional registration, the salary will progress to Agenda for Change Band 5

- Participate in competency-based training, structured learning, and assessments as part of the Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship programme.
- Develop competence in producing and reviewing routine radiotherapy treatment plans, progressing towards more complex cases as training advances.
- Assist in the provision of technical radiotherapy treatment planning support to consultants, clinicians, radiographers, and other multidisciplinary team members under supervision.
- Develop knowledge of radiotherapy equipment, treatment planning systems, immobilisation techniques, and relevant clinical software through formal study and workplace learning.
- Work closely with experienced dosimetrists and physicists to understand and apply radiotherapy planning techniques, systems, and workflows.

- Familiar with using Varian and Eclipse planning system
- Experienced in planning a range of treament sites
- Experience in working in Mould room
- Evidence of teaching / training others
- Good communication skills

### Essential

**Essential**

- GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent, including Functional Skills Level 2)
- Minimum 96 UCAS Tariff points or equivalent qualifications
- A-Level Grade C or above in at least one relevant STEM subject (e.g. Physics, Mathematics, Engineering) or equivalent STEM qualification.
- Demonstrates an interest in healthcare science, radiotherapy physics and medical technology

**Desirable**

- Experience of working or studying in a scientific, technical, healthcare or customer-focused environment
- Good Communication Skills
