### Job overview

This 24 month apprenticeship role starting September 2026 offers the opportunity to earn as you learn. Successful candidates will be enrolled on an integrated Pharmacy apprenticeship with a day release to attend college on site at RHCH.  Apprentices take on a hybrid learning format of underpinning knowledge of Pharmacy and sciences as well as the on the job skills of a pharmacy technician, assessed by assignments and evidence collection to an e-portfolio in order to register with the General Pharmaceutical council as a Pharmacy Technician by the end of the course.

Apprentices will spend their time split between our Basingstoke and Winchester sites rotating through the different areas of the pharmacy department, including :

- Inpatient dispensary
- Aseptic unit
- Clinical Trials
- Medicines Information
- Medicines Management
- Outpatients
- Pharmacy Stores
- Medicines Safety & Governance
- Homecare

Applicants must be a UK resident for the last 3+ years

Applicants must have GCSE grades A-C (9-4) or equivalent qualifications converted to match GCSE grading and have proof of these qualifications available.

Applicants with visa's are encouraged to apply. Your visa must cover the duration of the apprenticeship this is a requirement of all UK apprenticeships. Proof must be provided during the recruitment process.

### Main duties of the job

- To work through the  integrated Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship programme and complete all assignments and educational tasks to deadlines in order to satisfy the requirements for qualification and registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
- To gain practical experience and collect evidence in the tasks required of Pharmacy Technicians in various sections of the Pharmacy department under supervision of a registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist.

### Experience & Knowledge

**Essential**

- Able to articulate the importance of patient confidentiality in the healthcare setting.
- Can demonstrate comprehension of the various roles of a pharmacy technician
- Previous experience of working and communicating within a team

**Desirable**

- Previous role in pharmacy in the UK (within the last 3 years)
- Experience in working in a patient and/or customer orientated healthcare setting
- Previous experience of stock management
- Previous experience of working with medicines in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
- To know the professional standards set by the GPhC for pharmacy professionals
- To be aware of the GPhC ‘Code of Conduct for Trainee Pharmacy Technicians’.

### Training & Qualifications

**Essential**

- Maths GCSE or equivalent grade C/4 or above
- English Language GCSE or equivalent grade C/4 or above
- Double Science award GCSE/2 Science subjects GCSE grade C/4 or above
- At least one additional GCSE grade C/4 or above

**Desirable**

- Pharmacy Level 2 or equivalent GPhC accredited qulification
- IT qualification.

### Other Specific Requirements

**Essential**

- Must be prepared to travel and work on any hospital site within HHFT.
- Willing and able to commit own time to study
- Eligibility to register as a Pharmacy Technician in accordance with GPhC requirements and standards.
- UK resident for the past 3+ years

**Desirable**

- Evidence of recent commitment to study / course undertaken.
