Applications are invited from motivated individuals who are keen to begin an exciting career in Podiatry. As as apprentice you will be working for ESHT full time and will be released during Semesters to undertake study with at University of Brighton where you will work alongside other students who are also undertaking the BSC in Podiatry.
This is a developmental role. You will work towards successful completion of a BSc (Hons) degree in podiatry and recognition by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Allied Health Professional AHP Podiatrist. You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Podiatrist within the service and through completion of the Podiatry training programme which includes working in clinic and community care settings and delivery of direct person-centred care. Whilst undertaking this training you will work within the service as a podiatry assistant.
As the role is community based and we cover the whole of East Sussex, car driving will be essential. Towards the end of the apprenticeship you will be supported( subject to you meeting our behaviour standards, performance expectations and your apprenticeship ) to apply for permanent vacancies within the Trust. If you withdraw from the apprenticeship before its completion, your post may be at risk.
Once the BSc has been completed, then you will be eligible to apply to the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) as an AHP Podiatrist.
Travel costs related to this course will need to be met by the apprentice as this is a paid post and the course is otherwise fully funded for you.
Academic Requirements for this role:
Applicants should demonstrate recent* study at level 3 or above, for example:
A-levels: A recent high grade (A/B) in a biological science or Physical Education.
Open University: A grade 2 pass in Human Biology (SK277).
T-level Merit in the Health, Healthcare Science or Science T-level. Other T-levels are not accepted.
Other qualifications: Successful completion of Associate Practitioner Course, Health and Social Care Foundation Degree or other relevant level 3 courses.
Plus
GCSE/Functional Skills: Applicants will also need to have achieved Level 2 (GCSE or Functional Skills) in both mathematics and English language at grade C/ new grade 4 or above prior to commencing the course. English language requirements: IELTS 7.0 overall, no element below 6.5.
