The successful candidate will study the 'Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Theatres pathway)', which is a fantastic opportunity to start a successful career within the Theatres department. There will be many opportunities for career progression following completion of this Apprenticeship. In order to be eligible for Apprenticeship funding from the ESFA, applicants must: - Have the right to work in England. - Have been ordinarily resident in the UK or EEA for at least the previous three years before the start of the apprenticeship. However there are some exceptions to this rule which can be found in the residency eligibility section in Annex A of the Funding Rules. A unique opportunity has arisen, due to service expansion and development in the Furness General (Barrow) Operating Department, to join the existing theatre team. Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN)/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) providing perioperative care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the RN/OPD. Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records. Contribute to the on-call service. ### Main duties of the job We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our multi-disciplinary team in providing care for patients during their time in the Operating Theatre Department. You will help prepare theatre, support qualified staff with care of patients through all areas and participate in cleaning of clinical and staff areas. Duties include the transport of patients within our department and others. Participation in provision of a 24-hour service including shift work, on-call, weekends and night duty is a requirement of this post. The successful candidate will be studying for the 'Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Theatres Pathway)' Apprenticeship, and will be expected to attend college and complete coursework and other study as the Apprenticeship requires. 20% of their working week will be given to accommodate their Apprenticeship study.
