We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to contribute to the psychology service within the Darlington Getting More Help, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

This vacancy is open to either a newly qualified Psychologist or an experienced Psychologist with the appropriate Job Description and banding being applied accordingly to the successful candidate. Successful candidates who are newly qualified Psychologists will be expected to work towards the competencies of the higher band within an agreed time frame; being regraded to the 8a role upon successful completion.

The post will involve working in the community within the supportive and collaborative multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to young people and their families experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties.

The successful applicant will offer advice, consultation, supervision and training to other members of the CAMHS team, and will play a key role in continuing to develop the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working of the teams.

The successful candidate will be under the support and guidance of the Consultant Psychologist within the Darlington CAMHS team. The team provides training placements and teaching for the local doctorate in Clinical Psychology course.

Experience of working with young people and families is important, as well as the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with our multi-agency partner organisations.

The post holder will receive regular supportive supervision and work closely with psychology colleagues based both within the Darlington CAMHS team, but also across the wider psychology team in CAMHS within County Durham and Darlington. There is a strong psychology network across the trust and within the CAMHS directorate.

We welcome applications from staff who are currently coming to the end of their training in Clinical or counselling psychology that on successful completion will achieve the required qualification and registration with HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist.

Trainee counselling psychologists are eligible to apply for and to be shortlisted for interview and to be offered qualified posts when they are in their 3rd year of the doctoral training and have the following confirmed as completed by the university. This information may be requested prior to interview: a. All clinical competencies. b. 80% of the 450 supervised clinical practice hours (360 hours)

Trainee clinical psychologists are eligible to apply for and to be shortlisted for interview and to be offered qualified posts when they are in their third year of training, as they will have completed their core clinical competencies by this stage of the course.

The post holder will have a key role in providing psychological assessments as well as a therapeutic, consultative and advisory service in relation to Children and Young People, their families and carers, according to identified clinical need. In addition to direct clinical work, providing consultation and where necessary clinical supervision to other team members in regard to patients is an important element of the role.

Applicants should have experience in working within CAMHS services and show strong trauma-informed values. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, motivated, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent mental health care and evidence-based interventions. - Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
