Band 7 - Alcohol Specialist Nurse NMP

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Nurse / Non Medical Prescriber  to work within our acute trust Alcohol Team. This post will offer the opportunity to work with a challenging and rewarding group of patients attending hospital with alcohol-related problems.  As a senior  nurse you will have experience in supporting clinical interventions and treatments within hospital and in liaising with primary care teams to ensure smooth transition of care from hospital to community. You will be expected to support research activity and deliver education and clinical support to the wider healthcare team.

You will have excellent communication skills, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of working with this patient group.  You will have the ability to prioritise effectively within a busy clinical environment.

### Main duties of the job

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidenced-based nursing care.  - Provide expert advice and clinical practice - Provide specialist education and training to others  - Work collaboratively and co-operatively clinical colleagues to develop services and quality of care delivered.  - Lead the development of clinical services within the specialist field.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assess, plan and evaluate care planning for an identified patient group affected by alcohol misuse.

Facilitate outpatient clinics providing excellent standards of care including implementing prescribing plans.

Interpret blood / fibro scan results and refer as appropriate

Provide specialist education and training to colleagues and allied professionals.

Provide expert advice and clinical practice.

Work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues to develop service delivery

Perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs.

Perform advanced clinical skills in assessment &/or diagnosis &/or treatment.

Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records.  Involve patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care and development of services.

Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.

Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives, and professionals across health and social services.
