### Job overview

This role is open to all applicants. However, in line with Cornwall First recruitment principles, initial shortlisting will prioritise applicants from Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the Integrated Care Board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The AI specialist provides technical expertise within CITS for AI, data science and automation activity. Reporting initially through Technical Services, this specialist acts as a bridge between stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and CITS teams, helping translate strategy into practical development through proofs of concept and automation solutions that improve patient care and operational efficiency.

### Main duties of the job

Lead end-to-end technical development of AI and machine learning adoption.

Apply advanced data science methods to explore datasets, generate insights, and help develop simplified workflows, dashboards, and visualisations.

Support design and implementation of automation solutions for efficiency gains working alongside with existing expert teams.

Understand licence, capacity and subscription AI models especially MS 365 CoPilot. Ensure solutions are aligned with governance standards.

Engage with clinical, operational, and corporate stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Ensure outputs are safe, reliable, and compliant with Trust and NHS AI assurance frameworks.

Contribute to continuous improvement, reusable code/templates, and support the Trust’s AI roadmap.

Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to teams both within CITS as a department and other teams in the wider Health Community.

Contribute to Service Design and development of business cases within this area.

Work with stakeholders to develop a detailed roadmap for AI and associated technologies

Play a central role in developing business cases for the future use and support of AI

Develop and maintain technical documentation, code repositories and data dictionaries

Ensure compliance with information governance and data protection standards

- Advanced use of enterprise reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI; good understand of SQL, Python or R languages
