Band 6 Advanced Theatre Practitioner (General Theatres)

You will be working as part of a highly skilled General and Emergency  theatre team.

Candidates interested in developing a career in theatres will have the opportunity to develop a range of relevant skills as we have a dedicated education team in place with a comprehensive education strategy which underpins the development of all grades of staff within theatres, facilitating career development and progression.

As a Advanced  Theatre Practitioner, you will play an important role within our multi-disciplinary theatre team. Alongside maintaining excellent scrub practice, you will help support and mentor junior colleagues, contribute to a positive team culture, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety and clinical care within the theatre department.

This opportunity is suited to a practitioner with proven scrub experience, strong leadership skills, who is confident working within the scrub role and is passionate about developing both their own skills and those of the team around them.

### Main duties of the job

As an Advanced Theatre Practitioner you will:

- Act as scrub practitioner for general and Emergency  surgical procedures. Our emergency service runs 24h and covers general, obstetrics, urology, Gynea, ENT and Ophtalmology.
- Lead and mentor junior members of the team/students.
- Deputise for the Clinical Lead Practitioner when required.
- Communicating effectively with other departments, e.g. Sterile Services, Wards to ensure efficient patient care.
- Communicate effectively within the MDT in order to provide excellent care for patients and be able to escalate issues as required.
- Preparing operating theatre for surgery as required. To include equipment and supplies required for specific procedures, ensuring appropriate use of resources and minimal waste.
- Assessing patient care requirements, implementing care and evaluating outcomes.
