Are you a pharmacist looking for a new challenge within Acute and Emergency Medicine?

We’re looking for an experienced clinical pharmacist to join our Acute &Emergency Medicine team at the Royal Stoke site. You’ll help deliver a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to high-acuity and complex patients across our Acute Medical Unit, AMRA, AEC, SSU and to the Emergency Department.

You’ll work closely with pharmacy colleagues and multidisciplinary team members, with opportunities for education, development, research and networking. You will also train and support the development of junior pharmacists within the Acute Medicine rotation.

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has experience of delivering evidence-based, cost effective care
- Is able to support team development
- Has a passion for acute and emergency medicine, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment

- Deliver a high quality, patient focused clinical pharmacy service to Acute/Emergency Medicine
- Prioritise and review high-risk patients (e.g. those with epilepsy, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease), ensuring their medicines are prescribed and administered within a timely manner
- Utilise your independent prescribing skills daily, working within your scope of practice
- Provide prescribing support for complex medicines e.g. aminophylline, vancomycin
- Support patient flow with mechanisms for obtaining discharge medicines both in and out of hours
- Review adverse incidents and take appropriate action to reduce future risk
- Review and develop guidelines and PGDs.
- Line manage and train and develop junior pharmacists and trainee pharmacists
- Work with the Advanced Lead Pharmacist for Acute and Emergency Medicine on the strategic development of the clinical pharmacy service to the Emergency Department and Acute Medicine.

### Personal Qualities

**Essential**

- Ability to adhere to policies, procedures and standards

### Essential Qualifications

**Essential**

- Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
- Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent qualification (B8a role)
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Certificate and working towards completion of the Diploma (B7 role)
- Independent Prescriber with appropriate annotation on GPhC register or willing to undertake

**Desirable**

- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
- Formal management and / or leadership qualification
- Member of UKCPA and / or specialist groups

### Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

**Essential**

- Comprehensive experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner including a solid grounding in a broad range of clinical specialties (B7 role)
- Extensive hospital pharmacy experience post Diploma (B8a role)
- Commitment and evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
- Computer literate and able to use Windows applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and internet
- Experience providing education and training, supervision and feedback of staff

**Desirable**

- Clinical pharmacy experience within the specialty
- Evidence of involvement in pharmacy practice research and/or audit
- Experience line managing and/or conducting formal appraisals
- Evidence of involvement in writing of guidelines
- - Presentation of an abstract on pharmacy practice research at a regional / national conference or publication in a peer reviewed journal
